The subject of this sketch was the youngest of Uncle Daniel Funkhouser's
children.  It is regretted that the information relating to her descendants
is not as full and complete as desired. Her appreciative son says:
"I think of my mother's life as a graceful stairway, with seventy two
steps gently rising into the seventy-third, and it seemed that each new
step more of  Christ and more of all the good and beauty of this world was breathed in by
all the good and beauty of this world was breathed in by this climbing soul, and when
Death's angel came to call her home, that messenger found this child of
Mortality already part of the way up, for she said just before she died, 'O, I hear
such sweet music.' This climber did not need to look down and weep, but can still
look up and find the step changed to a diviner marble, and see the Power, the Kingdom and
Glory of God, forever."
