The Alkire burying ground is one mile south of Williamsport, Ohio, on land owned by Mr. F. D. Alkire. It is on the west bank
of Deer Creek, about 500 yards south of the C. & M. V. R. R. bridge. It is 96 x 108 feet in size. There are 51 marked graves. The oldest stone records deaths that occurred in 1823. These old monuments are "home-made" stones, the inscriptions being
very crudely cut. They doubtless have an interesting history, but it is not likely it will ever be told.
