The source of this Walnut Twp. Docket Book is the original ledger with cases recorded from December 1855 through March 1871. It is the only Docket Book I have knowledge of and I have included all the information contained therein. I have carefully checked spelling of names in all cases and have transcribed them as they appear in the original. If there is doubt regarding the spelling, I have included a note showing the other possibility. Hoping this provides some clues to Pickaway Co. Researchers...Rachel Meyer

April 16th 1856 One day after date we or either of us
promise to pay to Ezekiel Morris or Bearer two hundred Dollars for value
received with interest at ten per cent.

attachment and order issued dated and delivered same day to Caleb hall
Constable returnable on the 23d day of June A.D. 1856.
June 21 Summons issued and delivered to C. Hall Const.
June 23d 1856 Order of attachment returned. Return as follows:
On the 21st day of June A.D. 1856 I went to the place
where the property described in an inventory and appraisement thereof made
under an order of attachment in the action of W. C. FINKEL & et. Al, S. G.
PONTIOUS, John B. VANDEMARK and WOLFELY against the within named Lewis
GRIFFITH and served on the 21st day of June A. D. 1856 in the presence and
hearing of John T. JONES and Lewis HECKMAN two credible persons did declare
that by virtue of this order I attach said property and did then and there
attach as in my hands subject to said prior attachments.

June 21st A.D. 1856 I went to the place where the Defendants property
described in the annexed inventory and appraisement was found and there at
10 O Clock A.M. of said in the presence and hearing of J. T. JONES and Lewis
HECKMAN two credible persons did declare that by virtue of this order I
attach said property at the suit of Ezekiel MORRIS and did then and there
attach it and I then with J. T. JONES and Lewis HECKMAN two householders of
the County of Pickaway after administering to them an oath truly to
inventory and appraise said property made a true inventory and appraisement
of said property being all that was attached and said inventory and
appraisement signed by me and said Householders is annexed to and returned
with this order. Said property now remains in my custody.

June 23d 1856 This suit continued to August 11th 1856 at 1 O Clock P.M.
Aug 11th 1856 1 O Clock P.M. Plaintiff appeared and Defendant failed to
appear. It is thereupon and on said day considered by me that the said Ezekiel
Morris recover of the said Lewis Griffith the sum of seventy two 10/100
Dollars and his costs herein taxed at seven 5/100 Dollars.
Order issued Aug 11th 1856 and delivered to Caleb Hall Const. For the sale of
said Goods & Chattles.
September 10th 1856 Order of sale returned Endorsed. Received this writ August
11th 1856 By virtue of this write I advertised and sold the property therein
described to the persons and for the prices following. Retained my fees $5.68.
Money made and paid to Justice.

July 12th A.D. 1856 Order of attachment returned. The return as follows:
July 7th 1856 Received this order of attachment issued
by W. C. FINKEL J. P. in the action of Solomon STOUT against the within
named Lewis GRIFFITH.
July 8th 1856 I went to the place where the Defendants property described in
the annexed inventory and appraisement was found and there at 4 O Clock P.M.
of said day in the presence and hearing of Jacob MARTIN and Samuel SPADE two
credible persons did declare that by virtue of this order I attached said
property at the suit of Solomon STOUT and did then and there attach it and I
then with Jacob MARTIN and Samuel SPADE two householders of the county of
Pickaway after administering to them an oath truly to inventory and appraise
said property made a true inventory and appraisement of said property being
all that was attached and said inventory and appraisement signed by me and
said householders is annexed to and returned in this order.

presence and hearing of J. T. JONES and Elias VANDEMARK two credible persons
did declare by virtue of this unit I attached property and did then and
there attach it as in my hands subject to said prior attachments.

July 22d 1856 Order issued and delivered to C. Hall Constable for the sale of
the Cow attached by said plaintiff.
Aug 6th 1856 Order of sale returned Endorsed. Received
this writ July 22d 1856. By virtue of this order I advertised and sold the
property therein described to the person and for the price following.

Defendant failed to appear. It is thereupon and on said day considered by me
that the said Solomon STOUT recover of the said Lewis GRIFFITH the sum of nine
Dollars & six cents and his costs herein taxed at Seven Dollars and ninety
seven cents.
Order issued August 11th A.D. 1856 and delivered to Caleb HALL Const. for the
sale of said goods and Chattles.
September 10th 1856 Order of sale returned and
endorsed. Received this writ August 11th 1856 By Virtue of this writ I
advertised and sold the property therein described to the persons and for
the prices following. Retained my fees: Mileage & service - $1.55; On sale -
.82; [Total] - $2.37 . . Caleb Hall Const.
