HULSE

R. Hulse Jr. 1/4, Hepzibah Hulse 1/4, Effie Jane Hulse died in 1876 before she was 21 years old. In her last will and testament she devised her share of the lands to Nelson J. Tumey in trust for the heirs of her said father James R. Hulse decd. Mollie C. Hulse then come forward and claims that all of the above is untrue. She states that the will of James R. Hulse devised to his widow, Mary A. Hulse. Everything else was disputed as well. There may have been two wills. There was a prenuptial agreement James, Aristeus and Hepzibah Hulse were children by a previous marriage, Jonas T. Hulse and Effie Jane Hulse the minor children of his marriage to a Mary A. Hulse. At the time of the death of james R. Hulse, Jonas was 7, and Effie Jane was age 5. Many motions, continuances, testimony, motions for a new trial and generally "bad blood" brought out during the course of this case. The lands were partitioned and divided into six lots, an elaborate map is on page 341. A listing of distribution is on pages 340 to 343. James M. Lewis vs Samantha J. Feller et al


On October 1, 1888, a petition was filed by James M. Lewis stating that he has the legal right to 1/4 part of 5,22,84, and 60 acre tracts of land as a grandson of Noah Lewis decd. Further stated is that Samantha J. Zeller the wife of J. J. Zeller, Mary McCoy the wife of William McCoy, and Alice Parsons are tenants in common with the petitioner for 1/4 interest each. Further
stated is that during his lifetime the said Noah Lewis conveyed to the plaintiff lots #10 and #3 in the Village of New Holland and that it was intended to be an advance on his entitlement. Maps of the four tracts are on pages 364 and 365. The tracts of land were sold on November 19, 1888.

Samuel Hedges vs Louelza Rose and Others


On May 23, 1889, a petition was filed by Samuel Hedges stating that on March 24, 1887 one Samuel Hedges, Sr. died intestate owning 100 acres in Clear Creek Twp. Fairfield Co, and 100 acres in Salt Creek Twp. Pickaway Co., and that he is entitled to 1/7 as a son, Louelze Rose the wife of George Rose of Adelphi Ross Co, Ohio 1/7, Margaret Moore the wife of Eli Moore 1/7, Maria Hedges of Madison Co, Ohio 1/7, Permilia Rose the wife of George W. Rose Adelphi Ross Co, Ohio 1/7, Nancy Hartranft the wife of William W. William Webster vs Barbara A. Dilts et al


On March 7, 1889, a petition was filed by William Webster stating that together with Barbara A. Dilts the wife of John H. Dilts, Laura M. Lutz a minor over age 14 and Rosa Lutz a minor under age 14 that they are tenants in common in 140 acres of land. The plaintiff, William Webster has by an estate of inheritance 1/2 and holds a deed of conveyance. Barbara A. Dilts by estate of inheritance owns 1/4 and she is entitled to dower in the remainder as she was the former wife of George lutz, decd. Laura M. Lutz and Rosa Lutz own 1/8 each subject to the dower rights of their mother, Barbara A. Dilts.  The land was partitioned with a map of same on page 358. Peter Ford vs. Philip Ford and Others


On March 14, 1889, a petition was filed by Peter Ford stating that he has the legal right to one fifth of 68.71 acres of land in Scioto Twp. further stated is that Philip Ford of Madison Co, Ohio, Margaret Fisher the wife of Felix Fisher of Franklin Co, Ohio, Rachel Shuster the wife of John M. Shuster, of Franklin Co, Ohio and Mary Ford of Franklin Co, Ohio are tenants
in common for the premises for one fifth interest each. On July 8, 1889, the land was sold for $35 per acre. No mention of parents, relationships, or who the land originally belonged to. Vol. Ten page 371-378 [partition records of Common Pleas Court Terms Nov 1873---Jan 1900.]
