The sanitary conditions about the house had been so neglected that those who visited the place could scarcely stay in the house long enough to clean it up. A daughter, 16 years old, had been going to work every day, and evidently did not realize her mother's condition. The mother and daughter have been living alone for several months, the husband working on a farm near Ashville, this County. He was apprised of his wife's death. The morning of her death Mrs. Romer, the district nurse, and Mrs. Elijah Cutright, a member of the board of county visitors, were notified of the woman's condition and did everything they could to make her comfortable. After the nurse and a physician had left the home, the woman attempted to get out of bed and fell to the floor dead.

OSMAN CRABB

The Mt. Sterling Tribune has the following account of the death of Osman Crabb on the 13 inst.: The many friends in this community of Uncle Osman Crabb were greatly surprised and pained to hear the report Sunday that he suddenly fell dead on the porch at his home just after he had eaten a hearty breakfast that morning. He was an old man and a much respected citizen of this and adjoining counties. He was in Sterling Saturday, the day before his death, feeling unusually well and in apparent good spirits. He was aged about 74 years and leaves a widow and several children, among whom are Thomas Crabb, merchant, of this place and Frank, with whom the old folks made their home. For several years he has failed in health and has at times complained of feeling smothered and a choking sensation signifying heart trouble, the direct cause of his death, undoubtedly. He was a consistent member of the M.E. Church, and formerly was a faithful attendant. While it is painful and sad that he was taken without any warning, yet no one was better prepared, and had their work more completed than Uncle Osman. The widow, children and relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their affliction. His funeral was preached at his late residence on Monday last and the body interred in Pleasant cemetery.

LAVINIA FULTON

Died at her residence in the city of Chillicothe, on the 2nd day of August 1841. Lavinia Fulton, consort of John A. Fulton, in the 67th year of her age. Mrs. Fulton came to this place with her husband and son in the year 1804. She was a descendant from a respectable and numerous family of the name of Irwin, in Brandywine Manor, Chester County, Pa. She was a regular and consistent member of the Presbyterian church for forty years, a strong and active mind, and which through the blessings of Providence she retained in full vigor until her death. A most affectionate wife and indulgent parent - through all the varied circumstances of her life, she was benevolent and charitable in an eminent degree. No poor person ever left her home with an empty hand. Her attachment to her friends and relatives, was strong and permanent. Her grandchildren she would always have around her, several of whom she raised to the age of men and women, and expressed her most ardent desire of their welfare, prosperity and good conduct through life. In conformity to a wish she expressed many years ago, she was entombed in a vault in a cedar grove in the garden, which she helped to plant and water with her own hands. She left a husband one son and a great number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will have to regret the loss of their best friend.
