Funeral Services are to be held at 1 pm Friday for Henry Gaines, 66, of Tipp City, Ohio, who died Tuesday at Dettmer General Hospital after a long illness. He had been a patient for ten days. Mr. Gaines was born September 26, 1893, in Scioto County, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Frazier Gaines. He had been a resident of Tipp City for many years. Surviving are his wife, Doris; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Bennett of Chillicothe and Mrs. Betty Massie of Tipp City; a stepson, Elmer Glenn of Clearwater, Florida; six brothers, Oliver, Wayne and Thomas, all of Portsmouth; Louis of Detroit, MI; Ted and Dewey of Baltimore, Maryland; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Marshell of Jeffersonville; Mrs. Phere Dome and Mrs. Laura Boss, both of Portsmouth; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Freda Bennett, of Circleville, preceded him in death. Services are to be conducted at Coppock-Lee Memorial Home in Tipp City. Burial is to be in New Carlisle Cemetery.

William Stover Gearhart, a prominent resident of Stoutsville, died at his home Thursday morning, Aug 26, after a ten days illness. Deceased was a son of George and Mary Gearhart, and was born in Circleville on May 26, 1852. On March 14, 1876, he was united in marriage to Isabelle Stout, to which union five children were born, four [sic] of whom surviors: George J. Gearhart, of Lancaster; Minnie C. Kirby and William S. Gearhart of Stoutsville. His wife preceded him in death two years ago. He is also survived by two brothers, Jerome Gearhart, of the Soldiers Home, Sandusky, and Samuel L. Gearhart, of Columbus, and five sisters, Mrs. E. E. Bock of Columbus; Mrs. Lucretia Bock of South Bloomfield; Mrs. W. H. Shively, of Greencastle, Pa, Mrs. W. A. Bowsher of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. A. K. Reed of Lancaster, Ohio. Deceased was an uncle of Mrs. O. K. Howard and R. M. Gearhart of this city, and Mrs. Edward Strawser of Washington Township. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Reformed church of Stoutsville, Rev. E. E. Zechiel officiating, interment in the Church cemetery.

William Jennings Gilmerr, 84, of New Holland, died noon Tuesday at his home. Born July 11, 1896, in New Holland, he was the son of Levi and Alice Allen Gilmerr. Mr. Gilmerr, a retired carpenter, was the last World War I veteran living in New Holland. He was a life member and past commander of American Legion ARCH Post 477. Surviving are his widow, Norma Ater Gilmerr; two daughters, Willa Jean Ater of New Holland and Margaret Day Anders of Bookwalter; two sons, Michael Gilmerrr of Chillicothe and David Gilmerr of New Holland; stepson, Robert Entrekin of Whashington Court House; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:30 pm at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland. Burial will follow in New Holland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 pm Thursday.

George Gochenouer, who has been so near death's door and has never left his bed for 16 weeks, died Thursday morning, March 3d at half past 1 o'clock. His has been a very peculiar case of sickens, baffling the most skillful doctors. He leaves nine children of whom only two are married. His wife and infant child died three years ago. The funeral services were held at the Commercial Point M. E., church and were conducted by Rev. Abeernethy of Darbyville. The children are left without either father or mother and would make the hardest of hearts quiver to have seen such a sad and touching scene. They have the sympathy of the entire community. The remains were interred at the Beckett cemetery. It was one of the largest funerals ever held at Commercial Point.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Bainbridge for Lewis Good, 46, brother of John Good, of Ashville, who succumbed at his home last Friday. He is also survived by his widow, two sons, his father and a sister. He has lived in Bainbridge the past five years and was occupied as a steam and electrical engineer.

FORMER WILLIAMSPORT RESIDENT PASSES AWAY IN DETROIT; RITES HELD - Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Gordy, wife of Harley Gordy, who died at the home of their daughter, Helen DeWeese, 5631 Grand River, Detroit, after a lingering illness, Thursday evening, were held Sunday in Williamsport. She was the daughter of Timothy and Katherine (Hall) Titus, born in Morrow Co., Oct 1, 1876, and was united in marriage to Harley Gordy, formerly of Williamsport. To this union was born one daughter, Helen. Besides the daughter and husband she is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Emma Hadley, Shelby; Mrs. Anna Wolfe, Lebanon; Alonzo, Waynesville, and Charles, Kings Mills. Interment was in Springlawn cemetery Monday morning by C. E. Hill. Those accompanying the cortege from Detroit were the husband, Harley Gordy, the daughter and her husband, Helen and Ray DeWeese. Others from a distance attending the funeral were, Mrs. Anna Wolfe, Mrs. Harvey Cook, Lebanon; Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Titus, Mrs. Nellie Phillips, Waynesville; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tasceo, Mrs. Shirley Allen, Miss Madge Titus, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Died at Home of Daughter of High Street Monday Morning -- Mrs. Mary P. Greet, widow of Basil Greet, died t the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Delong, 140 East High Street, Monday morning March 6, at 6:30 o'clock of complications after seven weeks illness. Deceased was a daughter of John and Sarah Dunn Pickens and was born in Circleville June 3, 1838. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Delong, and Miss Mattie Angel, of this city; and John Greet of Columbus. Of her immediate family she is survived by a brother, Jonas Pickens, of Lancaster; and a sister, Emma Pickens, of Cleveland. The funeral was held at the house Wednesday at 10 o'clock. Rev. Wallin Riebel, of the united Brethren church officiated. Burial in Forest Cemetery.

ESTEEMED MEMBER OF PIONEER FAMILY CLAIMED BY DEATH
At 6:30 o'clock, Saturday morning, Mrs. Ellen Grimes, one of the community's older and most esteemed citizens passed away, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. F. Kahler and family, with whom she made her home. Mrs. Grimes died of cerebral embolism, having been stricken several days before her demise. Up to that time she had enjoyed very good health.
The deceased was a member of one of New Holland's pioneer families, a life-long citizen of this community and a much beloved woman. She will be greatly missed in a wide circle of relatives and friends.
The following obituary prepared and read by Rev. C. L. Thomas, of East Ringgold, who officiated at the funeral services, tells a good life-story of Mrs. Grimes:
Ellen Thomas, daughter of John L. and Susan Buckworth Thomas, was born in Ross county, Ohio, October 9, 1844, and passed from mortal sight to her heavenly home, September 20, 1930. She thus lacked 19 days of being 86 years of age.
Her mother dying when she [was] small, an uncle and aunt, Alexander and Eliza Draper, took the motherless girl into their home, in New Holland.
In that home, December 7, 1865, she was united in marriage with William J. Grimes. Together she and her husband walked, sharing life's sunshine and shadow for nearly 50 years. Six months before their Golden Wedding, on March 18, 1915, her husband went on before. Most of the time since Mrs. Grimes spent in the pleasant and gracious home of Dr. and Mrs. A.F. Kahler, her daughter and son-in-law.
Five children came to their home; one, Lida, a talented and promising young lady was called home, November 18, 1892. There survive their parents Myrta O., wife of John Fidler, of St. Louis; Charles W., Ethel C., wife of Dr. A F. Kahler, and Glenn T., all of New Holland. Five grandchildren are also bereaved by her death, Helen and Sheldon Grimes, Marie Shasteen, and her children, Grimes Kahler and Eleanore Fidler.
She herself, was the eldest of five children, having three sisters and one brother. Of these only two sisters yet live, America and Lida, both of Boise, Idaho.
When a child of nine, she united with the M. E. Church, in New Holland. Later, soon after her marriage, she was converted in a meeting at the old Cedar Grove church. Thence to the end of life. She gladly gave to the church and its great Head a life of deep devotion, rich in rare Christian graces.
She belongs to the W. F. M. S., at Atlanta, and was a perpetual member of the W. H. M. S., at New Holland. She had long be a member of the W. C. T. U., and although she felt unable to take a very active part in the work, she was an earnest believer in their principles and a loyal supporter of all three organizations with her means.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, at 2:00 o'clock, Monday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Thomas, a former local pastor and very close friend of Mrs. Grimes and family. He was assisted by Rev. M. R. Crabbe, pastor of the church.
Besides the above memoir, a fitting funeral sermon was read and a prayer was offered. The choir sang Abide With Me and Nearer My God to Thee, favorite hymns of the deceased. There was an abundance of beautiful floral tributes. Serving as pall bearers were Cash Kirk, Milton Bennett, Joe Bennett, John T. Dick, Wilby G. Hyde and George Kirk. Interment was made in the New Holland cemetery. Funeral Director A. W. Kirk was in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services for Cora M[ildred]. Gulick, 78, of Lancaster, were to have been held at 3 pm Monday in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home of Lancaster with the Rev. Andrew Schilling officiating. Burial was to have been in Forest Rose Cemetery in Lancaster. Mrs. Gulick, the widow of Millard U. Gulick, died Friday in the Kearns Rest Home of Circleville. Her first husband was the late Thomas Mowery. Surviving her are: a daughter, Mrs. E. E. Wilson of Lancaster; two brothers, Frank Smith of Columbus and Fred B. Smith of Urbana; two sisters, Mrs. John Seall of E. Franklin St, and Mrs. Mildred Fetters of Lancaster, and two grandchildren.

Richard L. Hambrick, 68, of Circleville, died Saturday at Berger Hospital in Circleville. He was born March 5, 1931 in Friendly, W. Va., the son of the late William W. and Kathrine (Smith) Hambrick. He was a Korean Army Veteran and a machinist for Martin Marietta. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Patricia Lee; and a brother, Bob Hambrick. He is survived by his wife: Wanda Jean (Cline) Hambrick; three daughters: Judy (Harold) Hunley of Circleville, Joyce (Steve) May of Ashville, and Cheryl (Bill) Seymour of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five brothers: William, John, and Patrick, all of W. Va., and James Hambrick of Waverly, and Joe Hambrick of Columbus; one sister: Mary Kay Weatherford of W. Va. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at the Wellman Funeral Home in Circleville. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery. Visitation was held 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Winnie Hamilton, 85, widow of Simon Hamilton, E. Mound St., died Tuesday in Crites Rest Home, Stoutsville. Born January 27, 1873 in Pickaway County, daughter of Emery and Lydia Wilkins Anderson. Survived by a brother, Luther Anderson, Williamsport, a nephew, Leon Anderson, Mound St., two stepsons, Curtis Hamilton of Grove City, and Paul Hamilton of Dayton. Services in Defenbaugh Funeral Home, burial Prairie View Cemetery, Whisler.

Alazuma Harmon, wife of Joseph Harmon, died at their home in Adelphi Thursday evening [04 Feb 1926] at five o'clock of valvular heart trouble; having been a sufferer for a number of years. She was born September 18, 1859, in South Perry, Ohio, and was the daughter of Terry L. and Helen (Floyd) Moore. She was united in marriage with Joseph Harmon, who with two sons and one daughter, survive to mourn their loss. The funeral will occur from the M.E. Church at Adelphi, tomorrow, Feb. 6th, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Thomas officiating, and burial by Director Defenbaugh will be in Green Summit cemetery, at Adelphi.

Aletha Marie Harris, 73, formerly of Omega, Ohio died at 3pm Sunday, October 29 [1995], at Pleasant Hill Manor. She was born May 13, 1922 in Omega, Ohio, daughter of Wilbert and Francis Adrian Echard. She married Hugh H. Harris on July 15, 1946, who died March 12, 1975. She was a homemaker. She attended Omega United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Omega Grange. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law: John and Marla Harris of Omega; three grandchildren, Sean, Christopher, and Stephanie Harris; two brothers, Victor Echard of Harrisburg, Ohio, and Chester Echard of Circleville, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Dale (Greta K.) Chaffin of Kingston, Ohio, and Mrs. Warner (Wanda) Webb of Grove City, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and several infant brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the Howe-Wheeler-Boyer-Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon, 4-8 pm Tuesday and after 10 am Wednesday. Services will be at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Omega Cemetery.

George D. Harris, colored, a former barber, of this city, died at a sanitarium near Mt. Gilead at six o'clock Monday morning. Deceased was born in this city in 1876 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Harris. He was their only child and both were at his bedside when the end came. Besides his parents, Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, who was Miss Pressie Chancler, of Westerville, and one son, Sylvester Harris. For the past six months he had been ill of tuberculosis of the bowels and unable to follow his profession. He was at one time in business near the corner of Pickaway and Franklin streets. The funeral and burial were at Mt. Gilead this afternoon.

Charles Hayward, 52, Lockbourne Airman, was killed in an auto crash Sunday on Circleville-Lockbourne Road. Hayward's home was Roseville, Michigan. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Berger Hospital. He was a passenger in the car driven by Albert Louis Francis, also Lockbourne Airman. Francis pled quilty in Municipal Court to driving under the influence, but entered a plea of innocent to manslaughter charge.

Gideon D. Hedges was struck by a train Sept 30, at Chattanooga, Tenn, and died from the effects of his injury, Wednesday, October 19, 1892. The remains were brought to this city Sunday morning by Mack A. Lanum, and after the funeral, which occurred at the home of his mother Mrs. H. N. Hedges, conducted by Rev. Henry Mitchell. Interment was made at Forest cemetery.

A cerebral hemorrhage caused the death of Anderson Holland Henderson, 66, of 1726 Baird Ave., who died at at 8:30 AM Tuesday in Mercy Hospital. He suffered the hemorrhage about a week ago and apparently had rallied when his condition grew worse. He was admitted Monday night. Mr Henderson was a former city policeman and was well known in the city. He was retired from active duty about a year ago. Mr Henderson was born in Jackson County Ohio Dec 25 1866 and was a son of Robert and Sarah Henderson. He spent his boyhood in Jackson County, but had lived most of his life in Portsmouth. He was for many years a city policeman. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Henderson, and two sons, Dr. W. H. Henderson and Julius Henderson, both of this city. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Birdie Holt, AZ, and the following brothers: Robert Henderson and Andy Henderson of Springfield, Ben Henderson and Rex Henderson, Az., John Henderson, Michigan and Charles Henderson, Nauvoo. The body was removed to the Emrick Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 PM. Interment will be in McKendree Chapel cemetery, near Buena Vista.

Harold (Tony) Hester, 68, 115 E. Lisbon pkwy, DeLand, Fla. died at 3:20 p.m. Friday at West Volusia Memorial Hospital, Deland, Fla., after a lingering illness. He was a retired B&O Railroad employee. Born Oct. 5, 1907, in Ross County, he was the son of Frank Hester and Rose Ellen Clark. Surviving are nine daughters, Mrs. Howard "Bill" (Viola) Cokonougher, Bainbridge Rt. 1; Mrs. Donald (Martha) Barnhart, Bainbridge Rt. 1; Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Watson, Greenfield; Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Kingery, Circleville; Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Hayden, Cincinnati; Mrs. Kenneth (Fern) Tapp, Ft. Mitchell, Ky.; Mrs. John (Violet) Koch, Greenfield, Mrs. Howard (Janet) Pauley, Greenfield, and Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Johnson, Greenfield; four sons, Lawrence Hester, Greenfield; Dwight Hester, Greenfield; Gary Hester, Leesburg; and Warren Hester, Greenfield; three brothers, Harry of South Salem, Leslie of Lyndon Rt. 1, and Floyd of Byersville; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Beechler, Kingston; 39 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and daughter. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Murray Funeral home, officiated by Rev. Ken Marckel. Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery. Myrack M. (Jack) Hill, 70, of 812 1/2 Jefferson Ave., died at 811 p.m.Sunday at his son's summer camp on Three Locks Road. The sheriff's office said Mr. Hill had been working on the camp with his son, John, and suffered a heart attack. He was given oxygen and artificial resuscitation. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles, the Modern Woodmen of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. On Aug. 27, 1958 he retired from the B and O Railroad where he was an electrical stationary engineer for 45 years. Born May 30, 1893 in Vinton County he was the son of Ross and Mamie Ralph Hill. On Feb 24, 1915, he married Lenora Watters who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, James L. (Jean) Mitchell of 840 Jefferson Ave; a son John Hill of 801 Western Ave.; two grandchildren, Jacquelyn Hill and Kimberly Mitchell, three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Barnes of Santa Anna, Calif., Mrs Goldie Short of Allensville and Mrs. Nora Templin of Greenfield, and two brothers, Charles of New Holland and Walter of Williamsport. Private service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ware Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday where Eagles service will be at 7 p.m. Elks service will follow at 7:30.

Mrs. Margaret Himrod, 74, E. Union St., died Wednesday in White Cross Hospital, Columbus. She was the widow of George, who preceded her in death in 1953. Born Oct. 1, 1883, daughter of John and Hattie Clark. Survived by one son, John Himrod, City Health Commissioner; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed. Stevens, High St. Funeral services in Defenbaugh Funeral Home, Pastor John Deitrich officiating. Burial in Forest Cemetery.

Margaret, youngest daughter of J. F. Hoffman and wife of this city, died of quick consumption Sunday evening September 11th, 1892, aged 18. Services were held at the residence on Wednesday September 14th, conducted by Rev. J. H. Schneider, after which the remains were laid to rest in Forest cemetery. Miss Hoffman was a lively and intelligent young lady, and the community deeply symphaize with the parents in their sad bereavement.

Jesse Honnold, 71, of Pickaway Township, died Saturday in Berger Hospital. Born 17 Oct 1886 in Ross County, he was the son of George and Lucy Morris Honnold. He is survived by two brothers, Harry and Clarence [, both] at home. Services [will be held] on Tuesday in Defenbaugh Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Noble officiating. Burial [will be] in Forest Cemetery.

Ex-Treasurer Willis Hoover Died Monday Evening at Home in Ashville -- Willis Hoover died suddenly at his home in Ashville, Monday evening at 7 o'clock. The deceased had been ill for the past week. His death was due to a hemorrhage of the brain. Mr. Hoover was 74 years of age. He is survived by two sons and two daughters; Walter and John Hoover of Columbus; and Misses Ida and Eva Hoover at home; one sister and one brother also survive; Madison R. Hoover of Columbus, and Miss Mary E. Hoover of Ashville. The deceased was a retired business man. He conducted a general store in Ashville for fifteen years. Politically he was a Democrat and was honored by his party, being nominated and elected country treasurer in 1909, succeeding George W. Morris and served two terms. The funeral services were held at his late home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Arthur Kuhlwein officiated. Interment was at Ashville.

William Hudson Killed by Street Car. -- From the fracture of a skull, sustained when he was struck by a street care at High and Gates streets, in Columbus, Saturday night, William Hudson, blind, age 58, a former residence of Circleville, died Monday at Mercy hospital. He had been making his way home with a niece, Mrs. James M. Gray, 1284 South High Street, and sister, Mrs. Sarah Beavers, is also resident of Columbus. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence of his niece, and the remains were brought to Circleville for burial.

Doratha May Huffer, Aged 4, Died After Illness of Three Weeks.
Doratha May Huffer, aged 4, daughter of Roy P. and Margaret Settles Huffer, 424 N. Pickaway St., died at her home Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. Pneumonia after an illness of three weeks was the cause of death. The child was born in Circleville on Sept. 4, 1925. Miss Cleo Hunter, 81, formerly of Whisler, died 2 p.m. Wednesday at Berger Hospital. Born Nov. 4, 1892, at Whisler, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary Thompson Hunter. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances Hunter and Mrs. Myrtle Hunter, both of Whisler. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hill Funeral Home, Kingston with the Rev. Lynn Summers and the Rev. Pat Drewrey officiating. Burial will be at Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi.

Mrs. Mary Ann Hunter, 74, died Sunday at 8:15 p.m. at her residence in Whisler, following an illness from complications. Mrs. Hunter, the widow of the late Edward Hunter, was born April 15, 1867, in Hocking County, the daughter of John and Mary Mahoney Thompson. Until a short time ago, she was an active member of the Wheeler Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Seymore of Circleville, and Miss Cleo Hunter at home; two sons, the Messrs. Fred and Walter Hunter, of near Kingston; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Hosler of Adelphi, Mrs. Margaret Brokaw and Mrs. Belle Huston of near Laurelville, and Mrs. Jennie Reed of Adelphi; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the residence, with the Rev. L.V. Bauguess of Kingston officiating. Interment in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, under direction of Donald E. Whitsel Funeral Home, Kingston.

Mrs. Catherine Hurst, widow of Dr. G. W. Hurst, died at her home at Willimsport Wednesday morning aged 65 years. The deceased was several years a resident of this city, and was well and favorable known. The funeral will occur on Sunday from the M.E. church at Williamsport. Interment at Deercreeek cemetery.

MRS. IMLER DIED FROM SHOCK -- Mrs. Anna Imler, wife of William Imler, died Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at her home on East Union street from a shock due to an accident that befell her Saturday morning when she fell at her home breaking her left leg near the near. Mrs. Imler had been an invalid for years suffering from goiter. She was born in Jackson township February 12, 1871, and was a daughter of Robert and Esther Westbury. She married William Immel July 4, 1889, and is survived by her husband and three children: Daisy, wife of William Hickey, John and Miss Gladys Immel at home. Of her immediate family four sisters: Mrs. Samuel Raub, of this city; Mrs. Dora Teets, of New Holland; Mrs. Rosa Petty, of Jackson township and Mrs. Ollie Westbury and a brother, John Westbury of Williamsport, are living. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dunkard church Rev. Mr. Conover officiated. Interment was in Forest cemetery.

Roy Irvin, 79, formerly of Washington C.H., died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday in Fayette County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient three days. He had been ill since May. Born in Ross County, near Williamsport, Mr. Irvin moved to Washington C.H. in 1937 from Atlanta. He had recently made his home with a daughter in Wilmington. He was a retired truck driver and aide at Orient State Institute, and a member of the House of Prayer. His wife, Susie Watson Irvin, preceded him in death in 1966. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Ruth Ann Wharton) Flint, with whom he made his home; three grandchildren, Frank Wharton, Columbus, Mrs. Sandy Downard, Bloomingburg, and Mrs. Brenda O'Cull, Hillsboro; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Service was held Wednesday in the Kirkpatrick Funeral home, Washington C.H., with Rev. Arthur George officiating. Burial was in New Holland Cemetery.

Frank Jenkins committed suicide by shooting himself at his home on a small farm near Hallsville, Tuesday afternoon. When his two small sons returned home Tuesday afternoon from the grocery, which is about two miles from the Jenkins home, where their father sent them, they discovered his body. The family attributes his rash to ill health and worry. Deceased is survived by his second wife, aged mother, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Smith and Maude Tilton of Dayton; Mrs. Richard Bye of Urbana and Mrs. Belle Sherk of Chillicothe, and two brother, also five children; Roy, Frank, Rufus, Daisy, and Josie. He was a brother of the late Clinton Jenkins of this city. Mrs. Rose Jenkins Mrs. Anna Foresman, Mrs. George Jenkins, and Lewis Jenkins attended the funeral services.

YOUTH LEAGUE CO-FOUNDER DEAD AT 63 - Ruby E. Jenkins, 63, of 41 N. McArthur St, co-founder of the Scioto Valley Youth League, died at 11:55 PM Saturday (Jan 31, 1976) in Medical Center Hospital. He had been ill 10 months. His funeral will be at 2 PM Tuesday at the Ware Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl J. Dingus officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetary. A past president of Scioto Valley Youth League, Jenkins was serving as vice-president and commissioner. He recently was appointed to the city parks advisory board. Jenkins retired in 1971 as a machine operator for the Norfolk and Western Railroad, with 33 years of service. The son of Charles and Parthene Risner Jenkins, he was born Aug. 5, 1912 in Magoffin Co, KY. On Sept 23, 1931, he was married to Gertrude M. Ramey, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William J. (Mildred) Tackett, Rt 2, Frankfort; Mrs. Dan (Ruby) Dyke, Waverly; and Mrs. Ronny (Linda) Wunsch, Circleville; a son, Lewis, Cleveland; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dorsa (Ina) Phipps, Rt 5; and Mrs Turman (Rusina) Helton, Rt 3, Waverly, a half-sister, Mrs. Suzanne Montgomery, Marion; and a half-brother, Morton Griffith, Paintsville, KY. He was predeceased by a son, Lawrence (Bud), and two sisters.

Albert N. Jones, 75, farmer, died at his home on Arnold Road, near New Holland, at 11 a.m., last Thursday. He was born in Richmondale, Feb 17, 1873, and had lived in the New Holland community 50 years. Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Charles of Clarksburg, two daughters, Viola, at home, and Mrs. George Palmer of Williamsport; also eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Church of Christ in Christian Union at New Holland with the Rev. Arthur George officiating. Burial was made in New Holland cemetery by Kirkpatrick and Sons.

Jesse E. Jones, 68, of Judy Lane, Lucasville, died Sunday, Dec 17, 1995, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born Jan. 18, 1927, in Hillsboro, Ky., a son of the late Coleman and Oney May Jones, he was the owner and operator of Kirby Vacuum of Portsmouth for more than 30 years, a World War II Army veteran, a 1944 graduate of Brooksville (Ky) High School and a member of Candy Run Wesleyan Tabernacle. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Myers Jones, whom he married Jan. 15, 1949; three sons, Jerry W. Jones and Gary L. Jones, both of Lucasville, and Daniel E. Jones of Circleville; three daughters, Pamela S. Mitchell and Carla J. Bullion, both of Lucasville, and Paula L. Rolph of Columbus; a brother, Coleman P. Jones of Aberdeen; four sisters, Myrtle Chadwick of Louisville, Ky., Lorena Shaffer of Amelia, Juanita Richmond of Hillsboro, and Wilma Smalley of Peebles; and 13 grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday at Candy Run Wesleyan Tabernacle, with Randy Hurst and Grace Bloomfield, ministers, officiating, and interment in Lucasville Cemetery, with military graveside rites by William A. Baker Post American Legion. Friends may call at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, and at the church for an hour before the services Thursday.

James Kearney was born four-one-half miles south of New Holland, Nov. 4th, 1810, and died Feb. 5th, 1888, aged 77 yrs 2 mos. 21 days. He was the eighth son of a family of eleven children. His father Thomas Kearney was Irish, born in Moneygall, Kings county, Ireland, April 15th, 1765, and his mother Sarah Baxley was of Dutch descent. They were married in Baltimore, Md., Dec. 11th, 1791. From there he removed to Tenn., and thence to Ohio, locating in the northwestern part of Ross County. Longevity was a characteristic of the Kearneys and James was no exception to the general rule. He was married March 15th, 1851, to Miss Eleanor B. Hays. The fruits of this union were eight children, five boys and three girls, six of whom survive him. In the autumn of 1886 weakened by age and excessive labor he fell and for fifteen months was a great sufferer but he bore his affliction with greatest patience and resignation. During the last months of his life, he waited patiently for the time when the Master should call him hence. On Sunday the 5th of this month, the summons came and quietly without a tremor, and with an expression of heavenly peace, the soul took its flight to the God who gave it. His funeral services were held at the Christian church, New Holland, conducted by the pastor of the M.E. church, assisted by E. B. Lewis. His remains were laid to rest in the beautiful New Holland cemetery. He leaves a wife, four children, and many friends who mourn his departure. He was a man much respected by all. Word has been received of the demise of Mattie Kellogg at Unionville, Ohio. She was in her twenty-seventh year and at one time was employed her in the Graham millinery store. She died of tuberculosis.

Frank T. Kendrick, the son of John and Mary Kendrick, was born in Ross Co, Ohio, January 11, 1846, and departed this life March 8, 1922, at the home of his son, Joseph F. Kendrick, 197 South Belle Street, Columbus, Ohio, after an illness of a few days, aged 77 years, one month and 26 days. Mr. Kendrick was a farmer and followed that occupation all his life, until his age prevented his following the same. He was twice married, his first wife being Barbara Albright, and after her death, he married Martha J. Jones, who preceded him in death. To these marriage relations were born 13 children. The surviving are: H.F. Kendrick, 1523 Hayden Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio; W.H. Kendrick of Sunbury, Ohio; S. J. Kendrick of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; G.F. Kendrick, 26 North May Avenue, Columbus, Ohio; J.B. Kendrick, of Galena, Ohio; G.C. Kendrick, of Chillicothe, Ohio; J.F. Kendrick, 197 South Belle Street; Ernest A. Kendrick, Whitethorne Avenue, Howard Kendrick, Merrimac Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by two stepchildren: Mrs. Mary Harrington of Yellowbud, Ohio, and Charles Ladd, of Kinderhook, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. John McCollister, of Westerville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services Friday foremoon at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Mr. Carroll, officiating. Burial in Hebron Cemetery.

Clifford O. Kerns died suddenly at his home on the William Foresman farm in Pickaway township, Tuesday evening about 5 o'clock. Mr. Kerns was subject to heart trouble. He suffered a severe attack last October during the Pumpkin Show. Tuesday afternoon he was doing is chores about the farm and had gone into the barn to feed his horses and was overcome. He died before assistance could reach him. Not returning to the house in his usual time it was feared something had happened and his son, John Kerns, went in search of his father and found him dead. The deceased was born near Austin, Ross County, December 17, 1882. He was the son of James Nelson and Margaret Jones Kerns. He came to this county in 1911 and resided on the Foresman farm for ten years. Mr. Kerns married Polly Jane Roll October 17, 1901. She and one son survive. Mr. Kern was a member of the United Brethren church and was also a member of the Improved order of Red Men of this city. The funeral services will be held at the United Brethren church Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock Rev. Wallin Riebel will officiate. The cortege will leave the house at 12 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Hallsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Dora Kinney died at her residence on Clinton street Sunday morning at 3 o'clock of dropsy, in her 47th year. She was a daughter of Henry and Catharine (Hart) Mills and was born in Hocking County, on October 6, 1868. She is survived by her husband. The funeral services were held from the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Ferguson officiating. Interment in Forest cemetery.

George W. Kinney Died at home of son-in-law at Milford Center. Was Civil War Veteran and Conducted a Sewing Machine Shop in This City for Number of Years--Body Brought Here for Burial. -- The remain of George W. Kinney, who died at Milford Center, Wednesday, will be brought to this city this evening at 5:30 o'clock and will be taken in charge by the Albaught Undertaking company. Mr. and Mrs. Kinney left here last November for Milford Center where they were called by the illness of their son-in-law, Daniel Miller, who underwent an operation. Mr. Kinney recently suffered from a severe cold which developed into pneumonia and caused his death. The deceased was a veteran of Company A, 18th U.S. Infantry. He resided on West Ohio Street, this city, where he conducted a machine shop, doing work on sewing machines. The deceased is survived by his wife, one son, and two daughters: Will Kinney, Mrs. Clara Kinney Thomas of this city, and Mrs. Daniel Miller, of Milford Center. The funeral services were held from his late home in this city, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. David McDonald officiated. Interment in Forest Cemetery. Members of the American Legion acted as pallbearers.

Dr. J. T. Kirkendall died Friday afternoon about 4 o'clock at his home in Darbyville of pneumonia, aged 49 years, 11 months and 25 days. The doctor has been poorly for several years past. His last sickness however, was of only a few days duration. Dr. Kirkendall was born November 27, 1815, in Darbyville and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kirkendall, now both deceased. He passed his early life in his native village, living with Dr. R. H. Tipton after the death of his parents until he was sixteen years old. He then went to Madison county and worked on the farm of Oliver Mitchell until he was twenty-one years of age. Ambitions to improve his education, he next went to school at Lancaster where he pursued a seven-months course of study and after that he began teaching school at East Lancaster, Fairfield County. He taught there one term and the ensuing twelve years was engaged in teaching in Pickaway County, having charge of a school in Darby Township seven years. He read medicine five years under Dr. Tipton. Abandoning the work of teaching, he turned his attention to the general mercantile business in partnership with Mr. Fissel, under the firm name of Fissel and Kirkendall, and for two years was thus engaged. Resuming his old calling, he taught school one year and read medicine with Dr. F. M. Black. He subsequently attended lectures at Starling Medical college, Columbus, and was graduated there from Feb 25, 1879. After leaving college he was in partnership with Dr. Black a year, since then he has been by himself. In 1880, Dr. Kirkendall was united in marriage to Miss Sallie Renick, who with two sons, Benjamin R. and Edward T., survive. He also laves one sister, Mrs. John Fissel, and one brother, Capt. W. H. Kirkendall, both of this city. The funeral occurred Monday morning at 10 o'clock from the M. E. Church of which the doctor was for years a member.

Mrs. Hattie Mettler Kitchen died Thursday at her home in Adelphia. She had been ill two weeks. She was born in Hocking County on September 23, 1874, the daughter of Andrew and Jane Mettler. A member of the Pythian sisters of Adelphia Temple No 563, she is survived by three sons, Nolan, Chillicothe; Barton, Adelphia; and Ray Kitchen of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Valentine, Mrs. Margie Cain, both of Columbus; and a brother, Tom Mettler of Laurelville. Grace Mae Klein, age 86, of Columbus, died December 19, 2004, at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1918, in Pickaway County, to George Harber and Tabitha Harber (White). She was a member of Livingston Avenue United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by loving husband, Paul J. Klein, after 58 years of marriage; parents; brothers Charles, George, Asa, Edward, Woodrow and Willard; sisters Frances Ginn and Rosie Smith. Pneumonia Caused Death of Mrs. Mary C. Kuhn--Husband Died January 11 - Mrs. Mary C. Kuhn, widow of Ferguson Kuhn, died at her home in Madison township, March 5 [1912], at 10:30 o'clock of pneumonia after six weeks' illness. Her husband preceded her in death January 11, last. Deceased was a native of Coshocton and was a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Bainter Huff and was born July 16, 1843. She is survived by two sons, Raymond Kuhn of Columbus, and Orla Kuhn. Of her immediate family she is survived by four brothers and one sister. The funeral was held at the residence Wednesday at 2 o'clock. Rev. Winterhoff officiated. The remains were placed in Obetz mausoleum.

William Kuntz, coal dealer, passed away at the city hospital July 4th 1931, at 4:20 pm, after a few hours illness due to heat prostration. He was born August 19, 1877, at Beaver, Ohio, the seventh son of Frederick and Barbara Hines Kuntz. Two brothers having preceded him in death, he is survived by the following: Adam Kuntz of Circleville, George and Chris Kuntz of this city, and Jacob Kuntz of Beaver. He has been a resident of this city for the past twenty years. Funeral services will be held from Warešs Funeral Home Tuesday at 10 am with the Rev Weber officiating. Interment will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe. [NB: William never married.]

William Ladd, 79, died last Thursday in Berger Hospital in Circleville. Ladd, a well-known resident of the New Holland community, died following an attack of pneumonia. Ladd was a retired farmer and for some time had been in failing health. He is survived by several sons and daughters. Funeral services were held Saturday and burial was made in the New Holland Cemetery.

ARTERIO SCLEROSIS FATAL TO LOCLA MAN AFTER ILLNESS OF SIX WEEKS - Frank Lape, aged 60, of 957 S. Pickaway St, employed as stationary engineer at Sears-Nicholas, died at his home Monday at 9:30 p.m. of cerebral arterio sclerosis after an illness of six weeks. He was born in Clearcreek township Fairfield County, 28 Sep 1869, the son of Harrison and Elizabeth Conrad Lape. He was married in Circleville on 24 Dec 1895 to Bertha Coffland, who survives him. He is also survived by three sons and one daughter, Leroy, Russell and Nelson, all of Circleville, and Mrs. Carrie Conrad of Stoutsville. One sister, Mrs. Flora Drake of Columbus and one brother Robert Lape of Carroll, Ohio also survive him. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran church in Stoutsville of which he was a member with Rev. J. M. Wenrich officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville by Mader and Ebert.

George T. Lathouse, aged 88 years, died at the home of his son, W. H. Lathouse, in Circleville Monday forenoon, March 2l, 1921, of old age infirmities. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Valentine, who preceded him in death March 25, 1904. The union was blessed with a family of four [sic] children; William H. Lathouse of Circleville; George C. Lathouse of Warren, Trumbull County; and Mrs. Mary E. Leasure of Kingston. Mr. Lathouse was a former resident of East Ringgold until six months ago when he moved to the home of his son in Circleville. The funeral services will be held at the United Brethren church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev E. D. Paulin and Rev. A. B. Cox will officiate. Interment in Forest cemetery.

The deceased was born at Grange Hall, Pickaway Co., Nov. 1, 1869, and was the son of William and Eleanor M. Tootle Layton. He married Miss Bessie Wilson in Chillicothe, October 17, 1903. Mrs. Layton and three children, Marjorie E., Thelma M., and Donald S., survive. The funeral services were held at Spring Bank, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. E. D. Paulin officiating.

Marie Leach, 89, of Ray, died Tuesday in Holzer Medical Center. She was born February 5, 1910, in Jackson County, to Clifford and Elva (Crabtree) Mercer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Leach, in 1974. Surviving are sons, Allen (Judy), Jackson, Lewis Leach, Ray, Paul Leach, Waverly, Hugh (Judy) Leach, Tallahassee, Fla., and Ralph (Linda) Leach, Circleville; daughters, Mrs. Larry (Kay) Meredith, Beaver, Mrs. Dale (Becky) Noble, Jackson, and Mrs. Bill (Ann) Williams, Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Louise Goings, Springfield, Ohio, Mrs. Irene Burns, Chillicothe, and Mrs. Dorothy Starr, Chillicothe. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gladys Hart and Lody Wright; brother, Donald Mercer; and an infant brother. Mrs. Leach was a homemaker. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in Eisnaugle-Lewis Funeral Home, Jackson, with Eldr Marlin Mapes officiating. Burial will be in Limerick Cemetery. Opal Ann Leach, 83, of Pinehurst, N.C., formerly of Circleville and Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2001. Born November 22, 1917 to John and Mazel Morgan of Atlanta, Oh. Married August 10, 1938 to Rev. Clarence O. Leach who preceded her in death in 1980. Survived by daughter, Luana Frank, Pinehurst, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Paul O. and Beth Leach, Southern Pines, N.C.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Perkins, Pickerington; brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Naomi Morgan, Jackson; nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2001 in the First United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, with Rev. Dana Hakes and Rev. Raymond Welch officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe. Opal Ann Leach, 83, of Pinehurst, N.C., formally of Circleville and Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001. She was born Nov. 22, 1917, to John and Mazel Morgan of Atlanta, Ohio. On Aug. 10, 1938, she married the Rev. Clarence O. Leach, who preceded her in death in 1980. Surviving are a daughter, Luana Frank, Pinehurst, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul O. and Beth Leach, Southern Pines, N.C.; five grandchildren, David and wife, Patty Frank, Williamsport; Brian and wife, Jamie Frank, Kingston; Mark and wife, Rebecca Leach and Denise and husband, Ross Hatfield, all of Chillicothe, and Capt. Matthew and wife, Lisa Leach, Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren, Sarah and Joey Frank, Sarah and Ryan Koch, Christina Leach, Aimee Hatfield and Kelsey and Kaitlyn Leach; a sister, Faye Perkins, Pickerington; a brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Naomi Morgan, Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends. Her parents, a brother, Coyt Morgan, and a sister, Marjorie Freeman, preceded her in death. Opal was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of Circleville, the Pinehurst NC United Methodist Church and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dana Hakes and the Rev. Raymond Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Charles Raymond Lee, 67, of 7885 Denver Road, Waverly, died 3:58 p.m. Oct. 12 at his residence. He was a retired employee of the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born June 30, 1920, in Ross County to John I. and Ola M. White Lee. He was married Jan. 27, 1948 to Lera Ruth Phillips, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Miss Aletha Lee, Columbus and Mrs. Donald (Shelia) Reddick, Circleville; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs James (Iva) Patterson, Chillicothe, Mrs. Elmer (Opal) Williams, Tucson, Ariz., Mrs.Edna Cochenour, Chillicothe, Mrs. Melvin (Evelyn) Dawson, Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Foster and Emmitt; and a sister Pearl. Mr. Lee was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 757 of Chillicothe. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, with the Rev. James Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 757. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

John D. Leist, an old and well known farmer of Washington township, died at his home on Wednesday. Had he lived till May he would have been 84 years of age. He has lived in Washington township all his life and had been treasurer of the township about 50 years. He reared a large family land accumulated a fair share of this world's good. The funeral will take place from the house this morning at 10 o'clock.

David E. Lemley, 69, of Circleville, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in the Batavia Nursing and Convalescent Center. Born August 16, 1934, in Kingston, the son of the late Herbert D. and Velma L. Dowler Lemley, Mr. Lemley was retired from ODOT after 30 years, a long time member of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church and member of the Logan Elm # 624 F and AM Kingston Lodge, Pickaway Shrine Club, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Columbus and the Scottish Rite, Columbus. He is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Delores M. Lemley. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Brian) Donahue of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Brandon Guy Donahue and Sarah Jane Donahue; a sister, Joann Lemley of Kingston; a brother, Donald (Janet) Lemley of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mader-Peters Funeral Home, Circleville, with the Rev. David Wilson and the Rev. Roland Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery. Toni L. Link, 63, of Chillicothe, died early Sunday morning, May 16, 2004, at her residence, following an extended illness. She was born June 10, 1940, in Chillicothe, to the late Charles and Ethel Mae Stevens Wisehart. On April 6, 1983, she married Terry L. Link, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Lawrence "Buddy" (Leah) Bobo, of Frankfort, Paige (Jeff) Bryant, of Chillicothe, Stephanie (Jeff) Pettit, of Frankfort, Kimberly (Andy) Platt, of Chillicothe, Sherry (Jason) Seevers, of Circleville, and Teri Link (Chris Pettiford), of Chillicothe; 17 grandchildren; special cousin, Deborah (Kelly) Henness, of Frankfort; dear aunt, Helen Moss, of Circleville; and a host of friends. Toni was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union. She retired in 1998 from T.C.E., of Circleville, formely R.C.A., and was a member of IBEW 1631. She was the first woman to be elected to the executive board of IBEW. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastor Mark Clendaniel officiating. Mark A. Lowe, 32, of Sycamore Street, died early Friday afternoon as a result of an automobile accident on Blacksmith Hill Road. He was born August 25, 1965, in Chillicothe, to Clarence and Diana Diebert Lowe, who survive and live in Chillicothe. He was married August 2, 1985, to Angie M. Wolford, who survives, along with children, Jamie, Adam, and Brittany Lowe, all at home; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Danny Patterson, of Frankfort; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Cheryl Lowe of Chillicothe; maternal grandparents, Katherine Edwards of Circleville, and Robert and his wife, Maggie Diebert, of Toledo; mother-in-law, Irene Wolford; father-in-law, Edgar and his wife, Mary Wolford, all of Chillicothe; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark had been employed at Frisch's Family Restaurant. Funeral services will be held 1 p. m. Tuesday in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. Marvene Lykins, 71, Circleville, died Jan 6, 1992, at Berger Hospital. Born Dec. 26, 1920, in Pickaway County, she was the daughter of Russell and Zella Estell Newhouse. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jud Dresbach; her parents; and one brother, Burnell Newhouse. She is survived by her husband, Farrell Lykins, and one nephew, Dwight Newhouse of Columbus. She was a registered nurse at Ross County Medical Center for 14 years. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Catherine Lyons, mother of Patrick H. Malone, Sergeant-at-Arms of the Ohio Senate, died March 1, 1918. Deceased was a native of Ireland, a daughter of Jeremiah and Johanah (Lennon/Leonard) Kane; she has been a resident of Circleville since 1852; she was twice married, first to Michael Malone in 1863, to this union were born two children, Patrick H. and Mary E. Malone, who survive; in 1876 she was married to John Lyons. [NB: Michael Kane (bca1832/IRE) and Mary (Kane) Sweeney (bca1835/IRE) are siblings of Catherine B. (b 1834). Per 1880 Pickaway Co. census there was also a Maggie Malone, age 11, in the John Lyons household, along with Patrick and Mary Malone, but she must have died before the above obit. Patrick Malone (1865-1956) and Mary E. Malone (1866-1948) are both buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery.]

Estel E. Lyons, 80, of Portsmouth, formerly of Lucasville, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at a Columbus hospital. He was born April 23, 1919, in Circleville, a son of the late James E. and Myrtle Seymore Lyons. He was a retired electric welder, Norfolk and Western Railroad, a member of the Scioto Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran, a member of William A. Baker Post American Legion, Lucasville Masonic Lodge where he was past master, Lucasville chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where he was past patron, Portsmouth York Rite, and the Knight York Cross of Honor. He is survived by his wife , Dorothy Covert Lyons, whom he married Jan. 31, 1941, in Portsmouth; two sons, James Estel Lyons of Pataskala and Richard Everett Lyons of Conyers, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Helen Curtis, Juanita Kirsch, and Roberta Plymale, all of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Rigsby. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Scioto Baptist Church, with Gary Brown officiating, and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with graveside military rites by William A. Baker Post American Legion. Friends may call from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
