Mathias KERSHNER, son of John George KERSCHNER and Catharine Sara FAUST, was born in 1787 in Windsor Twp., Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Before 1792 Mathias had moved with his parents to Shamokin Twp., Northumberland Co., PA. John George KERSHNER died in 1803, and his widow married Thomas LLOYD. Thomas LLOYD took his new family to Ohio, and on Dec 1812, Mathias KERSHNER married Salome HORN, the daughter of Frederick and Anna Maria (DRUM) HORN in Pickaway Co. Ohio. They had two sons David and Mathias, Jr. Mathias, Sr. died ca 1817 in Fairfield Co., Ohio. David and Mathias lived in a community of KERSHNER and HORN family members. The spelling of the KERSHNER name had GREAT flexibility, incl. KERSCHNER, CASNER and CASTNER. David married Catherine SWINGLE on 8 Dec 1834 in Pickaway Co., Ohio. She was the daughter of Charles Philip SWINGLE, Sr. and Reginna GENTZEL. In 1840 they were residing in Washington Twp. Pickaway Co., Ohio. By 1850 they were in Eagle Twp., Hancock Co., Ohio, and by 1860 they had settled in Floyd Co., Iowa. This is where David died in 1863. Survived by his widow Catherine, and children: Mary, Sarah J., Reginnia, Charles C., Minerva, Jacob, Clarissa "Clara", Virginia Angeline, William Thomas, and Jerome. His widow, later married William HOLCOMB 22 Mar 1867 in Floyd, Iowa. Mathias married Minerva GROVES in 1843 Pickaway Co., Ohio. In 1850 their family was in Blanchard Twp., Hancock Co., Ohio, and by 1860 they had settled in Linn Co., Iowa. Where Mathias died 28 Dec 1900. Mathias and Minerva's children were: Daniel B., Elizabeth Jane "Lizzy", Miles P., Lewis N., Clara E., Adeline C., Charles F., and one other unamed child. These families can be traced back to Enders KIRSCHNER who was born ca 1570 in Herbstein, Germany. Their immigrating ancestor was Johannes KERSCHNER who immigrated from Langenselbold, Germany in 1733 with his wife Gertrudt (DIETRICH) and their children: Johann Conrad, Johann Peter, Johann George. This family is the foundation of the KERSHNER Family Association.

Researching the surname of BECKETT. I have information of Priscilla BECKETT married 1821 to John DUNGAN. No birth dates or Parent names. I believe they were the parents of Sarah Jane DUNGAN married Peter WRIGHT in 1856.

Would like any information regarding the parents of Nancy WHITESIDE who married James CASLER in 1812 in Pickaway County. This couple lived in this county until 1820 or perhaps later. The family then moved to Tipton Co., IN by 1830. James was born in VA and was in Hampshire Co. in 1810.

Looking for info on Elisha Howell. Born 25 Mar 1785 in Delaware, d. Mar 1872 in Pickaway Co. OH, buried Commercial Point Cem. Scioto twp Pickaway Co. OH, md Luisa Hickman on 1 Dec 1808 in Delaware. Children: Mary Wilkins, Hester Dennis, Nancy Millar, Charlotte German, Elizabeth Kingery and Jannett Howell. Jannett died unmarried. Would like to find parents, siblings, etc. Nephew Alfred Taylor came with Elisha and family to Ohio. Alfred md in 1847 to Myrandah Lukens in Franklin Co. OH, both buried in Concord Cem, Jackson twp Franklin Co. OH. Alfred's parents were Samuel Taylor and Pattie Hickman. Pattie Hickman was a sister to Elisha's wife Luisa. Thanks, Joyce

Researching Joseph W. BALL, Sr., born about 1805 in VA or PA, most probably VA. He married Catherine HOLLENBACH (1804-1870) on Nov. 21, 1830 in Pickaway County, OH. Joseph and Catherine had three known children; Joseph W, Jr., (c1833- c1907), George W. (1831-1917), and Sarah (c1841-died c1914 in Paulding, OH). Joseph, Sr., and Catherine and children eventually removed to Defiance, OH. Catherine died in 1870, Joseph died 1875. Both are buried in Cromley Cemetery, Defiance, OH. It's also possible there was a second marriage by Joseph, Sr., to a Catherine Apple in 1870. Joseph W. BALL, Jr., my g-grandfather, was born about 1833, died sometime after 1904. He married Mary E. SHRUM (b.1844-d.1904)in Defiance, OH on June 25, 1857. They had ten known children; Orlando, Joseph W., John, Agnes, George B., William W., Alonzo W., Mary A., Roy J., and Charles. Any information on above families would be greatly appreciated especially birth dates/places and parents to Joseph W. BALL, Sr.
