Does anyone know if there is a connection with the Bohrer and Rohrer families. The Rohrer family I am researching are from the New Holland, Pickaway County Ohio area. The names are very similiar. I am working on Jacob M Rohrer and Millard Fillmore Rohrer families. Jacob's line moved to Springfield Ohio. Thank you for any assistance. Jo-Ann dalroh1999@aol 01 Jan 2002

I am gathering information on John COON/COONS/CUNTZ/KOONTA who arrived in Ohio in about 1799 in the Ross/Pickaway/Fairfield County area. (The boundaries changed frequently as new counties were formed and re-formed). I am searching for a link between John and my GGGGrandfather, George Washington COON (1786, PA) George had at least two brothers, Samuel and Jacob, and possibly a third, Isaac. They are in many records in the Fairfield County area from 1808 to about 1830. John is believed to have settled with his family in the Clearcreek Twp, Pickaway County area. Land records show that in 1813, two sons, George and Samuel bought land in Hocking Twp, Fairfield County. The 1820 census shows George and his family, Samuel and his family, and a Hannah and her family in Hocking Twp. I am assuming that John died prior to 1813 and that Hanna was Johns wife. Two members of her household are adult males and I am guessing that these are Jacob and Isaac. In 1830 there is no Hanna listed but both George and Samuel are still there and Jacob is the head of his own household. I have a couple of different unpublished histories that tell of John COONS coming from Old Redstone Fort (Uniontown) Fayette Co., Pennsylvania with the MOORE, NEWHOUSE and DILLSAVER families in 1799 or 1800. John COON is said to be the brother-in-law of Henry MOORE. The records also state that John had been in Fayette County for about 10 years and had come from somewhere on the Schuylkill River about eight miles west of Philadelphia prior to moving west. John is said to have been a bricklayer or mason and may have been allied with the Dillsavers in business since they also had at least one bricklayer that was a contemporary of John and a member of the family later owned a brickyard. The records show almost all possible variations of Coon but I am reasonably sure the pronounciation, at least, was "KOONTZ" John Cuntz signed a "Petition to Congress dated August 22, 1799 from the subscribers residing on the publick lands on the East side of the Scioto River, in the Territor Northwest of the Rever Ohio 1787-1803 " OHIO RECORDS & PIONEERS vol XXXIII p25-26 John & Isaac Koontz signed a "Petition to Congress dated February 20, 1801 from the setlers on the publick land between the Waters of Muskingum, and Sciota River, in the Norhtwestern Territory." Territorial Papers of the US, vol III, The Territory Northwest of the River Ohio 1787-1803. p23 -25 OHIO RECORDS & PIONEERS vol XXXIII John likely had other children: Barbara, Nancy, Hanna, and John. Any help appreciated.

I am searching for information of the Robison family who arrived in Pickaway county in the 1820's. Particularly for information of the possible match for a Joseph Robison born 1818 in OH, who MIGHT be the son of David Robison b1770-1780. I have included the census information I have gathered in hopes it can help identify this family and be of a help to others. In 1822 he moved to Scioto where Sarah, James, John, Ann, David, Samuel, William, Joseph, Matilda, Caroline, Martha, and Almira were born -- In all fifteen. Thirteen are now living, five in Scioto, and all on farms: Mrs. Sarah Hall, Mrs. Matilda Hott, Mrs. Almira Hott, and Mrs. Ann Hoover. Michael Robison, the father of Isaac Robison, came with his family to Pike County, in 1819. In 1822 he moved to Picaway County, and bought two hundred and fifty acres of land, which he gave to his children, of whom he had six. He died in 1851, aged eighty years. The Robison’s settled in the south part of the township, and their settlement is known as Robtown." Conclusion Michael Robison born PA 1771 (per Bio above, 1775 per census) 1. [1] Isaac b.1796-1797 in PA (out of home and listed in 1820 census) 2. [1] Female b. 1794-1804 3. [1] Female b. 1804-1810 4. [1] Male b. 1804-1810 (Likely David listed in 1860 census) 5. [1] Male b. 1810-1820 per 1820 census, b. 1810-1815 per 1830 census 6. [1] Unknown (Likely Joseph listed on the 1850 census) David Robison b. 1760-1770 per 1840 census. Older than Michael (Isaac’s father) Probable brother to Michael. Note no apparent wife in 1840 census. David not found on 1820-1830 census. Question is where were they prior to 1840. Did they come to OH prior to the 1810-20 male’s birth?? Could this be my Joseph? 1. [1] Male b. 1800-1810 (Likely David shown in 1850 – 1860 census) 2. [2] Females b. 1810-1820 3. [1] Male b. 1810-1820 (The only possibility of my Joseph thus far in this family line) 4. [1] Male b. 1820-1825 5. [1] Male b. 1830-1835 6. [3] Females b. 1830-1835 7. [1] Female b. 1835-1840 8. [4] Males b. 1835-1840 Isaac Robison b. 1796-1797 in PA wife of appox same age. Married abt 1819 (no children by 1820) 1830 lists 2 males 10 or less and 3 females 10 or less and also a female age 10-15 and 2 age 20-30…(one 20-30 is wife other is?? and female 10-15 is??) the 1850 census is confusing as Isaac is listed as living with son John (John listed as head of household age 24), while next door John is again listed as head of household age 23 and all of Isaac’s children (Ann & younger) are there. The only land value is beside Isaac’s name ($750.) All evidence shows my Joseph NOT a son of Isaac. 1. Margaret b. 1810-1820 per 1840 census 2. Jane b. bef 1822 (1822-1825 per 1840 census) 3. Elisabeth b. bef 1822 (1822-1825 per 1840 census) 4. Sarah b. aft 1822, (1820-1825 per 1840 census) married name Hall 5. James b. 1826 per 1860 census (1825-1830 per 1840 census) 6. John b. 1826 per 1850 census b.1827 per 1860 census (1825-1830 per 1840 census) 7. Ann b. 1829 per 1850 census b. 1831 per 1860 census, married abt 1850 name Hoover, (Not on 1840 census) 8. David b. 1832 per 1850 census (Not found on 1860 local census) 9. Samuel b. 1833-1834 (My guess) Not on 1850-50-60 census (possibly died?) 10. William b. 1834 per 1850 census 1835 per 1860 census 11. Joseph b. 1837 per 1850 census (Not found on 1860 local census) 12. Matilda b. 1838 per 1850 & 1860 census, married abt. 1859, married name Hott 13. Caroline b. 1840-1841 (My guess) Not shown on 1840-50-60 census (possibly died?) 14. Martha b. 1844 per 1850 census, b. 1842 per 1860 census 15.
