I wonder if someone could help me with this family? I have an article stating that Jared ALKIRE & his wife Irene, nee NEWPORT were the parents of 9 children. It also states Jared ALKIRE was born at Zanesville, Pickaway County, Ohio and that his father was Silas ALKIRE. The only Silas ALKIRE that I have any information on was a son of the Rev. John ALKIRE & his wife Susan/Susannah, nee NAVE and at one time this surname NAVE was thought to be NATION, and that Silas was married to a Rebecca DAVIS (and the mother of Jared). Jared & Irene, according to the information I have, had the following children. 1. William - died in service in the Civil War 2. Tobitha (should this be Tabitha) - died in childhood 3. Josephine - died in childhood 4. John - was in Civil War/married a Mary SHIELDS 5. Van 6. Silas 7. Mattie - became wife of Dock Clark (whether this is a given name or a misspelling as to a Dr. (Doc) Clark, is unknown) 8. Elijah 9. James The article also stated they immigrated to Illinois about 1843 but feel this may be 1845 as that is the year Rebecca (Silas' wife) died. Any help that anyone can give me regarding the above will be gratefully appreciated. I am also following up with a posting to Vermillion County, Illinois, as this seems to be where they immigrated to. Thank you very much for reading this.

Looking for info on the John Cook IRWIN family. John was born in Washington Co., PA about 1805. I was told his father was Alexander IRWIN and his mother was Elinore ENGLISH, but I have no documentation for this. John was first married to Sophia BEAR / BARE in 1826 in Jefferson Co., IN. My GGrandfather, Alexander IRWIN and a brother and sister were born there. Sophia died in 1833 or later. John married twice more and had a family with each wife. These children were all born in Muscatine, IA. About 1857 John, his third wife, Nancy DAUGHERTY THOMPSON / THOMSON, and their children moved to Circleville, OH. John and his son, Washington, both joined the Union Army and John died at Vicksburg, MS, in Jan 1863. Any info would be much appreciated.
