DENNIS posted by James Dennis ,at Email: jdennis@netset.com , on Sunday, January 18, 1998

Looking for any information on Jonathan DENNIS, last reference I have on him is 1840 census, Pickaway County, Perry Township. Information I already have: born c. 1785 in Maryland, son of William Dennis; married 1819 Ross County, to Elizabeth Gadden; 1820 Census, Ross County, Deerfield Twp.; 1830 Census, Ross County, Deerfield Twp.; 1840 Census, Pickaway Co., Perry Twp.; 1850 Census, NO RECORD of Jonathan in Ross, Pickaway, or surrounding counties. By 1850 he would have been 65-70, so my thought is he died in the 1840's. Children, (I believe) Daniel, Henry, Wingate. The 1850 census shows Daniel, Henry, Wingate, and Elizabeth all living in the same household, Ross County, Deerfield Twp. no listing of Jonathan. Thanks in advance for ANY additional information.

HARBERT, HARBOUR, MORRIS, SEALS posted by Robert W. Gunderson ,at Email: snowvax@cc.usu.edu , on Sunday, January 18, 1998

The Rev. Joseph D. MORRIS (b. ?, m. ?, d. 10 Jan 1848) emigrated from Greene Co., PA, to Pickaway Co. around 1805. He married Elizabeth HARBOUR (or HARBERT ?, b. ?, m ?, d. 11 Sept. 1840) about the same time, but it is not clear whether the marriage took place before or after arriving in Pickaway Co. Both Joseph D. MORRIS and the father of Elizabeth HARBOUR (HARBERT) were early day Methodist circuit riders on the Adelphi, Ohio, circuit. There is some evidence that Joseph D. Morris was the son of Richard and Mary (SEALS) Morris, who also emigrated from Greene Co. to Pickaway County ca. 1805. I am attempting to determine the birth date and ancestry of Joseph D. Morris, the date and the place of his marriage, and the ancestry plus birth date of Elizabeth Harbour (Harbert).
