    Put in P. O. (P--- saw the check put in the letter) to go by next Fri mail a letter to J. E. Stevenson containing in letter a check on P. C. Bank for $120.50 dated Feb. 14, 1863 from Jno. SOUTHWIND to DAVIS and signed by Davis to STEVENSON. Adam WINFOUGH, Maddox HEP, Reding BODWELL and BIRD signed in their presence for him told him to make his mark. He said that he did.

    Mr. SULSEY sick, flow of blood to the head. Left for Mr. BLUE's. Commenced to snow last night and snowing today. Snow 6 inches deep.

    P. PRATT came back to work today. At Darbyville to see Col. ROP. Packed a box for Albert today containing 24 quarts of dried peaches, green apples, ginger snaps, broil cake, jelly cake, two cans of peaches, two cans of tomatoes, butter and two pairs of socks for Dr. LIPTON.

    Cyrus RADCLIFF commenced to work yesterday by the month at $13.00 per month. Took 21 hogs to lower place after the cattle and cow and heifer home on yesterday.

    Philip PRATT quit last night. To cut 8 double cords of stove wood at $1.00 per cord and 5 cords of wood for room at 37 cts per cord. Nelson bought two mules of Mr. NEFF for $70.00, $35.00 a peace. Col. Rop and Mr. HERRINGTON here for dinner (and Esq. POULSON awhile).

    Morning snow six inches deep on the ground. Raining some near all day. Snow melting off. Nelson and George HOOPER went to Able SEYMOUR 's to hire him. Paid Milton DAVIS $1.00 and George Hooper 50 cts. Three boys doing nothing.

    Paid David M. DAVIS $1.00. Loaned George Hooper a horse to go after his class near Camp Charlotte. Sat as juror on case between ROW and DOWNS. On jury before POTTER at 10 o'clock at BUSSEY 's school house. Snow about gone.

    At Darbyville and handed Dr. LIPTON for Albert three letters, 1 1/2 gr. Letter paper, 15 P.O. stamps, 25 envelopes, two plugs of tobacco and three papers. Dr. Lipton took back from Col. ROP to Albert-Albert's watch that cost me $17.00.

    Took Dr. LIPTON to Circleville on his way back to 90th Regiment. Stayed all night at brother Richard's. At church at night. Quite unwell with cold.

    At Circleville today. Made Curl a deed for F. KINNEAR 's property and took a mortgage from him for deferred payment (dated back to 31 March). Pag- notary seal on mortgage. Afterwards WILLIAMS came back and reapplied the seal and put it on himself in the same place. Caned RICHARD (note) at one year for $800.00 dated this day.

    Morning quite cold, ground froze, spitting some snow. At D. H. DENNISE 's and got twelve Honey Plum sprouts and set out seven in the yard and five of them in the nursery. Sent W. H. DENNY by HENNINGTON $6.00 to send him on to the soldiers.

    Hauled two loads of corn from Stevenson 's. Planted my early lot of potatoes today. Signed to Mr. DOW a certificate of deposit in P.O. Bank for $200.00 he paid me $80.00 on it and the balance of $120.00 I left with him until I want it. (young DOLIN present) M.H. and S.K. and N.

    Dr. BLACK and wife here. Paid Dr. JONES for knives and forks $13.00. Josie and I went to Dr. Jones and stayed all night. Paid J. BECKET at his store $7.50 that P. DAWSON handed me, it being for two hogs they bought off NEFF and they brought back and DAWSON bought them.

    Contracted with W.A. MILLER today for mule colts. We agreed that he should engage for me all the good mare colts form his jack of this spring getting at $33.00 at proper weaning time next fall a year, mules to be well taken care of eyes good and not crippled, be sound and harty.

    Engaged of Mr. BIGGS the mule from the three mares he tried to W.A. MILLER 's jack today, he is to give them usual good usage, eyes to be sound, no cripples, to be sound in every part for which I am to pay him $38.00 per head and to take them away say the 1st of Sept. 1874. John LIPTON agrees to let me have a mule at its worth.
