    Moderate cold, cloudy snowing some. Nelson and Docia CARPENTER were married at 8 o'clock this morning. James, Josie, and Anna left for the wedding. I am quite feeble, not able to get up. Wife not well. C. F. Cardiff here after his daughter. Sat up some today. Dr. PRATT called once.

    Night, morning, and day very cold. Morning below zero. At 3 o'clock it was zero and growing colder. I am some better. Sat up some. Jas. JONES, after dinner, went to London to bring him and his wife home. They got home at midnight. Nelson brought me one gallon of whiskey----$3.00. Dr. Pratt called at night.

    Last night cold, 12 below zero, at noon today it was 10 below zero. Nelson and wife and Jas. Jones and wife here for turkey dinner. Self in bed all day. I think I'm gradually growing better but very weak. Dr. Pratt not here today.

    Last night cold at zero. 3 o'clock 8 above zero. The boys are in town all day. Was in bed all day, but I think some better. Dr. Pratt called at night.

    Day more pleasant. Nels and wife, JONES and wife and Anna all at Rev. BROWN 's for a dinner given them. Jacob YOAKUM died today --- 97 years old. Dr. PRATT called to see us. Rev. Miller called today.

    Day quite snowy. Snowing desperate hard, drifting, sleighing good. Jacob YOAKUM buried today at 10 o'clock --- 97 years old. Sat up 2 1/2 hrs today.

    Day clear, more moderate. Nels to see cattle ---?--- about night. Nels took his wife to Darbyville. HILL and LEACH filling cushions ----- $10.00. Sat up near all day.     Afternoon fallen weather. Nels after oats of Jas. MILLER. Did not rest well last night. Anna took NICODEMASES ' dishes home today. Feeling an improvement. Nels to see cattle off of feed ----- foundered ? them. Jas. JONES some sick today.

    Appearance of fallen weather. Feel some better this morning. Nels went to show Major NEAL the fat cattle to sell them if he can. Dr. JONES and wife, Tho. CANA and wife here for all night. Nels and Anna went to Scott CARPENTER 's to a party at night.

    Appearance of nice day. Went out in the yard. Allen HEWETT here. I handed him $30.00 and left for Mrs. BEAVERS to sign for $75.00 paid her for house keeping from June 7th to Dec. 7, 1879, he said he would advance $45.00 of the money making the $75.00 amount of receipt. Nels and wife and Josie went to London to get Nel's check cashed. J. DENTON and Mr. WOODS here. V. ADKINS helping to load hay.

    Night and morning moderated. Appearance of pleasant day. Jno. CRABB killed two hogs for me today and cut them up in the morning and salted meat for $1.05. At Susan ADKINS, my first time out. Jas. JONES, President, called to see me. At Rev. MILLER 's awhile. Wm. ADKINS hauled two loads of saw dust for ice, my team, self.

    Day moderate, appearance of rain. Nels went to place to sell stock, did not sell. Wife sick - Dr. WILLIAMS. Nels brought up his gray stud colt and left Jim's mare at place. Anna gave S. ADKINS 10¢.

    Morning damp, warm, misty. Wife some better. Nels and JONES went to Washington C. H. sales today. Borrowed of W. SCHOCK a check to INGRIM $10.00. Handed in my resignation as Local Preacher to Rev. MILLER. I did it because of my continued bad health and on no other account. I have always been treated courteously by the church and ministers.

    A fine moderate day. Nels sent his gray mare by R. WINFOUGH to the place. Boys in town all day. At home all day, not feeling so well. Tom and Charly CARPENTER here for all night on there way home to Kentucky. Got of Nigh a gallon of coal oil.

    Morning clear, some froze. Carpenter boys left. Wife and self quite unwell last night, no doctor. Borrowed of D. H. DOUGLASS -- $1.00. Paid wash woman 75¢. Paid for hanging meat 25¢. Received of David MARSHALL receipt for ? on bank note I paid for him --- $1.80. JONES sold the Washington mule for $150.00 today.

    Morning cold, ground froze day clear. Nels and KLANFELT went to Five-Points to a Masonic burying of a brother from the hills. Borrowed of D. H. DOUGLASS $2.25, paid A. YOUNG and Son (sack of flour) $1.35, paid wash woman $.75. In town all day. Jim JONES went to Columbus.

    Morning froze, day clear. Nels went to London sales. My back is quite crippled. Nels and Jim Jones got back after night and all went to Presbyterian social.

Nels bought stock horses of P. ROWLIN. REDMAN 's took bay mare today and bought some corn. John MITCHELL brought me four buff hens; 3 - 1/2 and 1---3/4 blood $1.00. Anna, Josie, and Jim at M. E. Aid Society. At home all day, not well. Wrote Mollie a letter and sent it.

    Morning foggy and snowing, froze. Feel some better this morning. Paid A. YOUNG and Son for box of axle grease 15¢, 1/8 potatoes 10 and 1/8 turnips 5 ..... 15¢. Mahala C. BURCHNELL here and I paid her for her mother in full of account ..... 31¢. George BROWN here today with my horses to get my wagon to move to my farm tomorrow. Nels sent ? to Scott CARPENTER a large ewe sheep to be mated.

    Raining hard last night and this morning. Nels went to place to make demand of RIED of tools etc. Sent by mail the insurance policy sent by Ohio Farmers Co. to LE_BARON agent at Circleville to have corrected -- Madison Co. inserted instead of Fayette Co. as sent me, mailed today. Jno. RIED moved today and Nels bought four hogs of him, weight about 125 lbs .... $14.00. Bought of SNIDER two loaves bread 20¢ and three lbs butter 45¢. Colored man moved on to farm today (George BROWN ).

    Very cold in night with hard frost this morning. Nels went to receive hill hogs, handed him $110, 43 hogs. Josie and Docia go home last night. E. O. STEVENSON sent eight sacks timothy seed to Nels to have sowed. George broke plow.

    Snowed four inches deep in night and snowing this morning. Nels at Darbyville at night and got back at noon, left wife. Bought plow of HEWITT Bro. And gave note to SMITHS due September ... $17.00 warranted for one year and make good any failure in plow or take back if it don't do.

    Morning cloudy, cold, froze. Nels and Allen HEWITT went to place to fix sod plow. Bought of DOUGLASS two third bushel basket (60¢) and sent to place. Had J. BECKET, M. V. BEAVERS, Wm. CAFFERTY, R. WATERS and Mr. HEATON for dinner. Nels put load of hay in on stuble. Jno. RIED here, we settled but I found error against him in March and April work of 25 days after he left.

    Cloudy, damp, misty morning. Allen Hewett took sod plow and our Dayton plow to place and to bring back SMITH plow --- it don't work well. Railroad from Mt. Sterling to Mahollan (?) sold out yesterday to be built in 90 days. Jont (?) GULICK here this afternoon to see Jim and Nels. Received Dr. JONES letter on Margaret STRADER 's death at Napoleon, O.

    Rained hard all night and morning, ground flooded. Margaret STRADER buried at Strader grave yard at 11 o'clock today. My wife's half sister died at Napoleon, O.     Morning cold, day warm, clear. Not well all day-no doctors. In bed most of the time. Prepared but not able to go to church. Stanton ADKINS 92 yrs old funeral preached in M. E. Church and his burial took place died last Wed. Nels and Jim got home last night and brought one of Dr. JONES ponies.

    Rained hard today until noon. At Jn. ABERNATHY 's for dinner. Nels took Aldernary --?-place. At the place replanted the potatoes. Took Belle mare to place and brought up the Trot mule. Nels went to Darbyville at night.

    Day warm-rain. Not well-no doctor. Rev. MILLER and family, self and wife with them to see Mr. And Mrs. WOODS and to fish. Pleasant time. Left bill at Bank to renew signed by self and Nels. Pd girl Sarah on work----$.50. Nels got back bought HULSE 's wool.

    Rained hard last night. Ground too wet to plow. At the place today. Will have to replant corn tomorrow. Dr. WILLIMAN called to see Anna.

    Day fine, warm, good breeze. Nels away all night. At class meeting myself. Went to bed at 5 o'clock-not well. Nels and Docia got back at night. Aldernary cow bulling but not to bull.

    Rained last night, cloudy day and rain. At the place took down --?-SCHOCK to thin corn at noon at 50 cts per day and me board him. Got boarding at Mr. TRAUTMAN 's at $2.00 per week for Schock. Commenced at noon to board. I am to pasture Mr. Trautman's cow at rate $2.00 per month or 1 months pasture for 1 week's board. Pd barber for shave----$.05. My boys plowing corn.

    Night, morning and day cloudy and cold. Loaned Nels $5.00. Nels started to Chillicothe. Gave Nels check on 2nd Nat. Bank of Circleville----$121.33. Loaned J. W. INGRAM $60.00. Paid Jno. MITCHELL in full----$4.80. Paid RETCHEY for fixing ice house----$.25. Paid We. HODGES on account----$1.50. At the place set Dutchman grubbing. C. SCHOCK commenced to work.

    Morning cold, day fine. Nels handed me proceeds of check----$121.33. Nels handed me back $2.00. Paid Lafayette SCHOCK back $10.00. Wife sick, Dr. WILLIMAN to see her and Anna (foot). Self in town all day.

    Night and morning cold, some frost. Nels went to sack J. HULSES wool. C. M. CAFFERTY here to buy wheat. At the place today awhile. Wife in bed sick.

    Morning cold, day warm and dry. At the place. Back at noon. Nels went with D. D. HEWITT to Columbus. Girls took Mrs. D. D. Hewitt home this evening.

    Morning cool, day dry and hot. Sent by James H. JONES to Reed ALKIRE the amount I owed him for pasture, corn and gravel in full----$12.78. Sent D. ROBINSON honey box home by himself. Anna and Docia got back for dinner. Nels got home this evening. Got pint of whiskey of WOODS. George BROWN brought me one load of wood up in the afternoon and did his business.

    Sprinkled some last night and appears like more rain today. I am not well, no doctor. Wilson and I went to Bloomfield today to be back tonight. Nels and Docia here today. Jones went to Columbus on Dr. Jones letter.

    Day very warm and dry. Jas. WILSON got back this morning. Nels took Docia to Darbyville. At the place and took George a fish. At WINFOUGH and got my dinner at Abernathy's. Paid A. YOUNG and Son for my axle grease -- $.15. Got mule reshod, one pair -- $.35. Charley got old pair of shoes on colt Sat -- $.25. Got Roan mare pair of old shoes -- $.35. Made Mrs. ABERNATHY a present of my fine grapes. Sarah REDMAN quit work this evening. Paid her $1.25. Nels brought wife his gray mare.

    Day fine, warm and dry. Nels at Washington C. H. sales. Nels took his gray mare and some horses to Washington C. H.. Jas. H. JONES got home in afternoon. Nels got home this evening. Had our first beans for dinner. LYCINGER and Co. examined my bees.

    Day very warm and dry. Nels started to Chillicothe to see Mr. STEVENSON. At the place today. Self and Jno. ABERNATHY at J. M. O. At home all afternoon. Paid Railroad dividend for Nels.

    Rained some in the night. At Jack THOMAS 's after butter - none. Nels got back from Stevenson's. Rented grass for mules of Stevenson for Nels and Jones. Bought bushel of corn of him at $.30---4000 inches to the bushel. Tom CARPENTER here in afternoon.

    Rained hard this morning. At the place commenced to thin corn. Commenced to cut the wheat. Belle mare back today in the afternoon. Nels at WINFOUGH 's tonight helping with the wheat. Big J. SMITH helped. My three men also helped.

    Appearance of rain. Rained yesterday in Circleville. Took dinner to harvest hands to the place. Paid Jas. WILSON onions--$.05. At ABERNATHY 's for grass rake. Got of Mrs. WINFOUGH 4 1/4 lbs. of butter--$.12. Rained about 3 o'clock.

    Rained hard last night and rained today considerable. At home all day, quite out of fix-no doctor. Nels went to Darbyville. None of my family at church. Sorry they do so badly. Josie came to see me-I love the child. Rev. and Mrs. MILLER called. At S. ADKINS and Jno. ABERNATHY's.

    Appearance of more rain. At the place and took down harvest dinner. Cutting wheat up to 10 and then went to WINFOUGH 's. Left dinner for them today.
